Doctoral Researcher from Free University of Berlin Conducts Research at the Museum

Emily Yefimova, a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Prehistoric Archaeology (Institut für Prähistorische Archäologie) at Free University of Berlin (Freie Universität Berlin), visited the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. Her research focuses on textiles and the development of textile production in the Caucasus during the Late Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age.

The research is being conducted as part of her doctoral dissertation, “Spindle Whorls and Textile Production in the Caucasus during the Late Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age (c. 3800–2500 BC),” with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

At the Museum, Emily Yefimova is examining archaeological finds associated with textile production, as well as documentation from archaeological excavations. Her work includes describing and photographing artefacts, preparing graphic illustrations, studying archival materials, and documenting surviving textile fragments.

Research into the archaeological collections and documentation held by the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan will enable her to expand the source base of her dissertation and obtain new material for studying the history of textile production in the Caucasus during this period.
