On 15 October 2026, a delegation from the Shanghai Museum (People’s Republic of China) visited the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.

The delegation included Wang Yue, Head of the Bronze Department; Li Wenping, Assistant Curator of the Bronze Department; and Xu Zecheng, Coordinator of the Cultural Exchange Office.

The guests were welcomed by Naila Velikhanli, Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan and Academician. During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for cooperation, focusing on strengthening professional ties and expanding academic and cultural exchange between the museums.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Museum’s exhibitions. Aykhanim Khalilova, a guide from the Department of Promoting the History of Azerbaijan and Organising Excursions, introduced the delegation to key historical events, major stages in the country’s development, and museum artefacts reflecting Azerbaijan’s rich historical and cultural heritage. PhDs in History Aygun Mammadova and Nasir Guluzade answered the guests’ questions during the tour.

The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen professional links between museum institutions in Azerbaijan and China and to explore further opportunities for exchanging knowledge and expertise in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
