According to the order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic İlham Aliyev, very important for Azerbaijan history documents are collected and brought to Baku .
According to the decision of the President of Azerbaijan Republic English and French copies of the Declaration of Independence have been presented to ANAS National Azerbaijan History Museum.
In connection with that event, National Azerbaijan History Museum held a ceremony.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Republic Ali Asadov during his speech, emphasized importance of the document for Azerbaijan history and the Declaration of Independence was adopted on May 28, 1918.
At the end of the First World War, in 1919 in order to set and conclude peace treaties and form a new world’s map in Paris was held the Peace Conference.
The mission of the delegation to the Paris Peace Conference which was headed by Alimardan bey Topchubashov was to achieve de facto recognition of young Azerbaijan Independent State.
Representatives of the Delegation of Azerbaijan attended the Paris Peace Conference with the Declaration of Independence, including a copy of document written in Azerbaijan with old alphabet together with a copy of document translated in French. On the day of commemorating the one year anniversary on 28 May, 1919 at the Peace Conference, one of the main figure of the conference Thomas Woodrow Wilson met with representatives of Azerbaijan delegation.
Thanks to the work of the diplomatic mission, on 11 January, 1920 the Supreme Council of the Paris Peace Conference de facto recognized Azerbaijan as an Independent State.
As a result of occupation of Azerbaijan which led to unfortunate results, Azerbaijan lost its independence and the delegation was not able to return.
94 years after in accordance with President’s choice and desire these valuable and worthy documents were presented to the National Azerbaijan History Museum.
Director of museum, academician Nailya Valikhanli expressed her gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan Republic, and emphasized the importance of presented historical documents which would be the most valuable documents among other displayed exhibits for museum’s visitors concerning to Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
At the same time, academician Nailya Valikhanli expressed her gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev for the paid attention and great care towards museums. Afterwards, she highlighted that the restoration of museum building had been realized according to the decree of the President of Azerbaijan Republic.
