History of the Museum
About Haji Zeynal Abdin Taghiyev
Haji Zeynal Abdin Taghiyev who lived from the mid-19th to early 20th century was born in the Old City of Baku, a son of shoemaker Muhammad Taghi Taghiyev and his wife Umkhanim.
The building of the Museum
The building, where the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan is located, was the residential house of a well-known entrepreneur, philanthropist Haji Zeynal Abdin Taghiyev and his family. Taghiyev’s mansion is one of the beautiful buildings built according to the project of Iosif Goslavsky (1865-1904), who was the chief architect of the city of Baku.
History of the Museum
The National Museum of History of Azerbaijan is a scientific research, cultural and educational establishment that is occupied with collecting, study, exhibit and propaganda of material and spiritual monuments concerning all periods of Azerbaijan history.
Memorial museum of Haji Zeynal Abdin Taghiyev
In 2007 there was established the Memorial museum including nine rooms to immortalize memory of this great person who played an important role in the life of Azerbaijani nation.
