Department of Musical Culture of the National Museum of Azerbaijan History reconstructed

In a fixed exposition of the National Museum of Azerbaijan History of ANAS has reconstructed the Department of "Musical culture of Azerbaijan at the beginning of the 19-20th centuries".


In 3 show-windows established at the Department are placed 28 exhibits, copy of one work of painting, numerous historical photos and also 11 information panels.

Among the exhibits the special interest aroused the gaval of khanende Jabbar Garagdioglu, tar, presented to the winner mugham completion Mirza Faraj Rzayev in Rasht, Iran in 1887, tar of musical figure Suleyman Mansurov, saz of outstanding Ashug Huseyn Bozalganli, flute of performer containers and musical figure Ahmed aga Bakikhanov, Balaban of outstanding representative of Azerbaijani dramaturgy Mirza Fatali Akhundov, kamancha of composer Zulfugar Hajibeyov.

It also provides space for different rare artwork and relating to the XIX century kamancha (labeled "Shusha 1881"), string instruments, flute, zurna, yastibalaban, gaval, nagara, gosha-nagara and etc.

One of the rare exhibits is a gramophone of famous tar perfomer Gurban Primov. This musical instrument was donated by a Warsaw company "Sport-Records" on the occasion of recording a gramophone of Azerbaijani songs performed by the ensemble under G.Primov direction.

The special attention is drawn by the gramophone records containing the Azerbaijani songs, relating to the end of XIX - to the beginning of XX centuries. The Azerbaijani ensembles, musical instruments and outstanding musicologists of that time are reflected in the photos (in an exposition are presented to the copy their increased copies) relating to the specified period.
