On February 28 was held farewell ceremony with a prominent historian and scientist, corresponding member of ANAS, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Ogtay Efendiyev. Government officials, MPs, scientists and cultural figures, intellectuals and public figures had attended at the meeting.

Wreaths had laid in front of corpse of the deceased on behalf of government agencies and various groups. Ogtay Efendiyev’s colleagues, friends, well-known scholars and cultural figures had attended at the ceremony. Acting President of ANAS, director of theInstitute of Geology Akif Alizadeh, academician-secretary of ANAS Department of Humanitarian and Social Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Kamal Abdullayev, acad. Teymur Bunyadov and deputy director of ANAS Institute of History, PhD in history Tofig Najafli spoke about O.Efendiyev’s valuable contribution to the history science of Azerbaijan, expressed their deep condolences to his family. O.Efendiyev had investigated political, social and economic history of Safavids (Gizilbashlar) state and has gained wide popularity. His researches had always welcomed with sympathy by the scientific community. O.Efendiyev’s researches, valuable ideas will always remain as a valuable resource for our historians. Speaking on behalf of the family of the deceased People Writer Anar notified his gratitude to the President Ilham Aliyev for respect and esteem shown to O.Efendiyev’s memory. Then, the scientist’s corpse was passed away. The deceased were buried in the Second Alley of Honor. Allah rəhmət eləsin!
