On March 12, 2013 ANAS Azerbaijan National History Museum opened “Arshin mal alan”: period, people, characters” exhibition within the frame of “Mugam world” III International Mugam Festival. In the event, director of the museum, vice-president of ANAS, acad.
Naila Valikhanli informed about role of operetta with world-wide 100th anniversary celebration under the auspices of UNESCO 2013. Aim of the exhibition with more than 230 exhbitits from museum funds was to reflect position of “Arshin mal alan” musical comedy in history of the world. He noted that the exhibition demonstrates photos, personal belongings, documents, posters of cultural figures who created and staged operetta in 1913. Was drawn “Arshin malchı around the world” map reflecting countries where firstly staged operetta. Museum prepared products propaganda (two types of posters, Azerbaijani, Russian, English flayers, roll-ups, original invitations), as well as edition materials, “Adoption of Arshin mal alan” brochure and guide booklet of the exhibition. Academician stressed out that, “Adoption of Arshin mal alan” brochure exlains the facts of operetta assimilation by Armenians. In the second section of the exhibition the audience became familiar with streets of the city, shops, coffee houses belonging to beginning of XX century via installations. “Arshin mal alan” film (1945) was accompanied by a demonstration of the fragments. Exposition has an ability to access acquaintance with “Arshin mal alan” operetta on the basis of museum’s materials.
