As it’s known that, during archeological excavation on the territory of Azerbaijan, there are found a number of various historical artifacts revealing life of civilization. Among them are construction remains, household articles, implements, weapons as well as adornments and jewelry of the ancient period.
A published book-catalogue includes description of the archaeological artifacts, found as a result of archeological excavations and afterwards were handed to the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. Scientific editor of the catalogue which is entitled “Azerbaijan archeological gold and silver items” is director of the museum Naila Valikhanli, and the text has been prepared by the head of the Special Fund of the museum Afat Rustambekova. In the catalogue is given detailed information about collection of archeological findings, including 130 items made of precious metal; these exhibits cover the period from II millennium BC until the XVII century AD. Introduction of the catalogue deals with gold in Azerbaijan technology of jewelry craft, archaic forms of jewelry items, (toreutics) i.e. art-metal traditions. Of particular interest is, that the first time the reviewed collection of archeological exhibits were investigated by X-rays fluorescence analyze and as a result of research was determined composition of the items, technology of forging and its age. In the catalogue is given description of each exhibit, including its composition, photos, places of discovery, technology of forging and dimensions. The catalogue is published in both Azerbaijan and English languages.
