On September 30, 2026, the opening ceremony of the international exhibition titled "The Secret of the Blue Dome," prepared by the "Azret Sultan" National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took place at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan in Baku.
The exhibition is held within the framework of developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation and promoting the shared heritage of the Turkic peoples, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. This project is a continuation of systematic work carried out to implement the instructions of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev regarding the study, preservation, and widespread promotion of the heritage of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Kazakhstan and abroad.
The exposition introduces visitors to the rich historical and cultural heritage of ancient Turkistan and demonstrates the significance of the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi as an outstanding monument of medieval architecture and one of the region's major spiritual centers. Special attention is paid to the architecture and epigraphy of the mausoleum. Visitors can view original 12th-century terracotta tiles, 14th-century glazed tile fragments, majolica and mosaic elements, as well as photographs of rare Kufic inscriptions and examples of Arabic calligraphy that adorn the mausoleum.
In the central part of the exposition, two models of the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi are presented. One of the models demonstrates the internal structure of the complex and the layout of its main spaces, while the other reflects the overall architectural appearance of the monument. A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to the spiritual and intellectual heritage of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. Manuscripts and materials related to Yasawi's heritage, the "Nasabnama" (genealogy), as well as books by his followers, are presented here. These materials reflect the profound impact of Yasawi's teachings on the spiritual traditions of the Turkic peoples.
The holding of the exhibition in Baku aims to further strengthen cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, develop inter-museum cooperation, and contribute to the international promotion of the rich historical and cultural heritage of Turkic civilization.
