The head of the “Young Museologists and Museum-lovers Club”: Research Scientist of the Department of Popular-Scientific Work and Education of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan Alakbarova Sahiba.

Goal: The aim in founding the “Young Museologists Club” was to give a certain direction to the preparation of personnel as well as to select students, who are most interested in this field, and to create the condition for them. Members of the Club: 60 volunteer students of different years specializing in “Museology” specialty at Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts and Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University. The establishment of the Club: Considering purposefully the unity between theory and practice as one of the necessary conditions to bring all students specializing in “Museology” specialty at the educational institutions of Azerbaijan together and to master deeply this specialty, on 3 May 2017, we’ve achieved to realize the new project- the establishment of the “Young Museologists and Museum-lovers Club”- at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. At the opening ceremony of the Club, membership cards of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan were presented to the volunteerly selected students of different years. On 21 December 2018, 27 students were awarded with certificates and the Museum’s exquisite publications by the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan at the annual reporting event of the “Young Museologists and Museum-lovers Club” due to the active participation of those Club members in the lectures on various topics delivered by the Museum’s specialists on the basis of the prepared program including in several events and workshops organized by the Museum. 36 new volunteer students of the above-mentioned universities had been enrolled as members in the Club in January of the last year. These students were also provided with membership card of the Club. Realized and future plans: The main purpose of carrying out the project called “Let’s know and promote our museums”, which was included in the program of the Club, is to achieve the promotion of the differently specialized museums to the museologist students as well as their introduction to the directors of the museums as museologist personnel who were educated theoretically at Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts and Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University and practically as members of the “Young Museologists and Museum-lovers Club” with the support of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. With the aim of assisting the provision of the Museums with qualified personnel, the Club setting a goal to get to know closely the working style of variously specialized museums to implement such practical training progammes

orginizes excursions to other specialized museums once a month. Throughout the project, we have visited more than 10 museums. In the framework of the project ““Let’s know and promote our museums”, in 2020, another plan we intended to realize was to work in the direction of causing people with physical disabilities to know the museums. Our essential objective is to help those people adapt to the society including pave the way for them to prove their usefulness to the society as its part.
