On 16 September, National Azerbaijan History Museum of ANAS on the occasion of 20th anniversary of “Contract of the century” which is occupied a significant place in the oil industry history held the presentation of the catalogue “Azerbaijan Oil chronicle” and cognominal exhibition dedicated to 20th jubilee of “Contract of the century”.
Acad. Naila Valikhanli speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition emphasized that the catalogue has been prepared on the basis of the materials stored at museum’s funds reflecting the history of Azerbaijan oil. The catalogue consists of four sections, including information about the history of refining and processing of Azerbaijani oil, and there are displayed over 1,000 of the unique historical photos. At the exhibition are presented rare photos related to the early XIX-XX centuries, reflecting the technical installations and mining tools, work clothes and documents on country’s oil industry development. It should be noted, particular attention is paid to such major projects as the “Oil Rocks” and “Contract of the Century” and these materials occupy a significant place in the catalogue. It should be noted, that catalogue is published both in Azerbaijan and Russian languages with financial support of “BP-Azerbaijan” company.
Delivering the speech at the ceremony of presentation the president of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh noted that thanks to the wise, consistent and purposeful activity of the national leader Haydar Aliyev and a multi-faceted and broad economic policy carried by him, today the Azerbaijani oil is its present owner - the people of Azerbaijan, ensuring its independence, economic progress and welfare.
The event was also attended by the director of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes acad. Vagif Abbasov and Head of the Department of Science and Technology of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Nazim Valiyev, who spoke about the contribution of the “Contract of the century” in the development of Azerbaijani science.
Later on, the guests “Azerbaijan Oil chronicle” familiarized with the exhibition. At the exhibition are displayed about 600 exhibits. Of particular interest in the exhibition presented works aroused people's artist of Azerbaijan Maral Rakhmanzadeh series “Oil”, in particular, its 10 original lithographs, which have been made yet in 1947. Exhibition of the museum will last until January 15, 2015.
