The saddlebag protected in the Ethnographic Fund of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, belonging to the Shirvan region of the late 19th - early 20th centuries was sent to the Museum's Restoration Laboratory due to incomplete storage conditions and the need for restoration.
Ganira Mammadova, a restorer-artist of the laboratory, gave a second life to the exhibit. The 9 x 3 cm warp and wefts of the saddlebag were broken and the cover ropes were damaged. This part was re-sewn and restored with the appropriate threads. The saddlebag is pileless, made in “zili” and “palaz” technology, and the composition "Khila afshan" is depicted on it. The saddlebag is mainly used to transport agricultural products and so on.
From ancient times it has played an important role in the life of the neighboring Eastern and Caucasian nations including Azerbaijanis. Note that you can see the exhibit before and after restoration by visiting the page of Restoration Laboratory.
