“Discussion about the origin of Nizami Ganjavi continues”

“St. Petersburg University News” magazine’s discussion about the origin of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi continues. Thus, in 2010, Azerbaijani researcher’s Jabbar Mammadov has published his paper on the journal by name “On the controversial issues of Nizami Ganjavi's birthplace and nationality”.

On his paper by name “Azerbaijanization of Nizami” the russian researcher V. Gomoz briefly analyzed J. Mammadov’s paper and put forward his opinions on the same journal in 2011. “Ethnogeny of Azerbaijanis and the Caucasus population” paper by V. Gomoz has primitive and unilateral approach to the Azeri people ethnogeny. He contrived that, Albania's population to be assimilated by Persians and Armenians, Azeri ethnos has been formed only in the XVI century, the nation has formed in the period of Soviet Union as well as Nizami has been Azerbaijani poet only at that times. His paper was protested by Russian scientists. “News of St.Petersburg University” published paper by V.A. Drozdov on “Commen for “Azerbaijanization of Nizami paper”. Denying V. Gomozov’s opinions via consistent facts he proves that, V. Gomozov did not use works and studies about origin of Nizami, or “forget to show” given fat and results in. Citing to the documents of the period, as well as works by orientalist scientists A.E. Krimski, E. E. Bertels, V. Drozdov highlights Nizami as an Azerbaijani poet with Turkish origin once again.
