October 18 is a sacred day in the history of the Azerbaijani people, written with honor, pride. On that day, the people of Azerbaijan declared the existence of their statehood to mankind for the second time in the 20th century.
On October 18, 1991, the Constitutional Act on State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan was adopted. According to the Act, the Azerbaijani state regained its independence on October 18, 1991. It can be said that this act played a decisive role in the recognition of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the world. Azerbaijan began to establish bilateral, equitable and diplomatic relations with the world's great powers, became a member of influential international organizations, including the United Nations. Now, the voice of Azerbaijan is heard from the summits of the European Council, the UN and the high tribunes. Today, Azerbaijan is one of the rapidly developing young countries in the world, not only in the socio-economic sphere, but also in science, art and culture. The application of information and communication technologies, the establishment of an educational network at the level of modern requirements, comprehensive cultural relations with many countries of the world make the country recognized as one of the leading countries in the region.
October 18, 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. For the first time since 1991, the people of Azerbaijan celebrate this holiday in a completely different way, as a nation that has restored its territorial integrity. Thanks to the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the country's independence was further strengthened; the occupied territories were liberated from the clutches of the enemy. Future generations will be engaged in reconstruction works in peaceful condition, and the republic will become one of the most powerful countries in the world.
