Fund of ANAS National Azerbaijan History Museum protects several exhibits belonging to notable state figure of XX century Azerbaijan – Aziz Aliyev (1897-1962). Among them a unique work of art – a dagger has a special place.

The steel dagger decorating with gold, silver and bone is currently protected at Flags and Arms Fund of the museum. PhD in History Sabuhi Ahmadov’s researches prove that, being sample of high professionalism of Dagestan sword masters, the dagger was presented to the Aziz Aliyev on the occasion of the victory over fascism on behalf of the people of Dagestan in 1945. Let’s remind that, Aziz Aliyev led by Dagestan during 1942-1949, put an end to political repression carried out against the local population, was able to organize national Dagestan military units, and to define Dagestan people to the local authorities. Note that, trademarks and documents belonging to Aziz Aliyev also are protected in the museum.
