Japan version of the international magazine “Irs-Heritage” has published an article entitled “Japanese spears in the collection of the National Museum of Azerbaijan History”. The author of the article is employee of the ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan History S. Ahmadov. According to the National Museum of Azerbaijan History, Fund of Weapons and Banners has two
Japan spears. The article reflects pictures of sankaku yari spears. The presentation of the international magazine was held in Tokyo and five prefectures thanks to efforts of Azerbaijani Embassy in Japan. Sankaku yari (triangle spear) have a point that resembles a narrow spike with a triangular cross-section. A sankaku yari therefore had no cutting edge, only a sharp point at the end. The sankaku yari was therefore best suited for penetrating armor, even armor made of metal, which a standard yari was not as suited to.
