On January 17, 2013 by joint organization of ANAS National Museum of History of Azerbaijan and “IRS- Heritage” international journal was held event on “Spread of information about 20th January realities abroad”. The main purpose of the event devoted to the 20th of January which is the National Day of
Mourning was to bring to a public of various countries the authentic essence of the tragedy and deliver necessity of 20th January realities to the world society, as well as to Azerbaijanis living abroad, including touched upon means and ways of overseas propagation of the Azerbaijan truths, and to emphasize propaganda activities of “IRS- Heritage” journal, its role and place in professionally spread information about tragedy throughout the world.
The event attended representatives of scientific, cultural and relevant mass media spheres as well as museum’s staff and students.
At the museum entrance have been exhibited a carpet and a painting dedicated to the tragedy of 20th January which had been gifted to the museum in varous times.
In connection with the anniversary of the tragedy of January 20 “Irs- Heritage” journal series devoted to the 20th January tragedy published in Russian, English, German, Japanese, Spanish languages have been demonstrated in the conference hall.
The event started with the playing of National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and afterwards the documentary film on “Bloody January” was shown.
Director of the museum, academician Naila Valikhanli emphasized in her speech the crime committed against Azerbaijan people by Soviet totalitarian regime in January, 1990.
She noted that tragedy on January 20, 1990 was an extremely bloody act by a totalitarian Soviet regime perpetrated premeditated carnage against the Azerbaijan nation and the aggression of the Soviet military units against Azerbaijan and massive inhuman shooting of its own civilians became not only a symptom of the collapse of the finally rotten Soviet regime, but also evidence of falsification sovereign rights of the union republics. It was illegal deployment of Soviet armed troops entered Baku with heavy vehicles without any resistance and extirpation of peaceful, unarmed people as well as a horrible crime in violation of the law to declare a state of emergency in Baku.
The national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev noted: “ January 20, 1990 went down in history of Azerbaijan as the most tragic days and added to heroic history of the Azerbaijan people a new page of heroism ” .
A slide-film presentation called “Personal belongings of the martyrs of 20 January kept at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan” was displayed on the screen .
Thus, the participants of the event have been informed about personal belongings of the martyrs including documents, rare photographs which are stored in the funds of museum.
Presentation of rare photographs collected by the Association of Photographers taken by various photographers and devoted to the 20th January tragedy attracted public interest .
Mr. Javanshir Mammadov- the employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan reported on the importance of spreading abroad the realities of the 20th January as well as its propaganda as the struggle for independence of Azerbaijan and noted other problems existing in the current area.
It should be noted that operating over than 10 years, “Heritage-Irs” International Journal plays an exceptional role in spreading of Azerbaijan truth abroad.
Afterwards a video highlighting the activities of the journal in this field was shown. Mr. Musa Marjanli - magazine's editor-in-chief noted activity of the journal activity in spreading abroad the truth about January 20, and demonstrated the latest published issue of magazine.
At the end of the event, “IRS- Heritage” the numbers of international magazine were distributed to all participants of the event.
