As part of her visit to Azerbaijan during COP29, Princess Dana Firas of the Jordanian Hashemite Kingdom, a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and Chairperson of the Petra National Trust, visited the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. Accompanied by Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Murad Huseynov, she was warmly welcomed by the museum's director, academician Naile Velikhanli. Naile Velikhanli provided the princess with detailed insights into the museum's historical building, an architectural masterpiece of immense significance to Azerbaijan's cultural heritage. She also introduced the museum's vast collection, including archaeological artifacts, medieval art pieces, ethnographic materials, and traditional Azerbaijani costumes. These unique exhibits vividly reflect the rich culture of the Azerbaijani people. During her exploration of the museum, Princess Dana Firas expressed her admiration for the depth of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage, noting the exceptional preservation and professional presentation of the exhibits spanning various historical periods. She underscored the importance of promoting Azerbaijan’s historical and cultural richness on a global scale. In the museum’s guestbook, Princess Firas left heartfelt comments, emphasizing the need to expand awareness of Azerbaijan's cultural treasures worldwide. She also highlighted the potential for cooperation between UNESCO and Azerbaijan to protect intangible cultural heritage. The visit symbolized a significant step in strengthening cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Jordan. At the conclusion of the visit, academician Naile Velikhanli presented Princess Dana Firas with a kelaghayi, a traditional Azerbaijani headscarf representing the country's rich cultural heritage. The princess warmly received the gift, appreciating its significance as an emblem of Azerbaijani craftsmanship and cultural pride.
