On 24–25 September 2026, the 6th International Symposium on Turkic Gravestones (“VI. Uluslararası Türk Mezar Taşları Sempozyumu”) was held at Erciyes University in Kayseri, Türkiye. The international symposium brought together scholars and researchers from various cities across Türkiye, as well as from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, and other countries.
The National Museum of History of Azerbaijan was represented at the symposium by Habiba Aliyeva, Senior Researcher at the Archaeology Scientific Fund Department, PhD in History and Associate Professor. She delivered a scholarly presentation entitled “Gravestones in the Form of Rams and Horses in Eastern Zangazur, Azerbaijan: Preserving Epigraphic Heritage after the Occupation.”
The symposium featured scholarly presentations addressing Turkic gravestones, epigraphic heritage, and the historical and cultural memory of the Turkic world, as well as issues related to the study and preservation of this heritage.
The 6th International Symposium on “Historical Sites and Monuments” was held on 4–5 September 2026 in Basgal and Sulut, Ismayilli District, Azerbaijan. The symposium was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Fazil Osmanov, a distinguished Azerbaijani archaeologist and Doctor of Philosophy in History.
