Preparation for exhibition on the occasion of 95th anniversary of the liberation of Azerbaijan capital city Baku against Dashnak-Bolshevik forces at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan is nearly finished.
On 15 September, in 1918 under the command of Nuru Pasha, Caucasian Islamic army consisting of Azerbaijan and Turkish military forces liberated Baku from occupants. In 1917, after the collapse of Russian empire, Azerbaijan nation had a real chance to gain its national statehood.
In the first instance, Armenian-chauvinist with support of Bolsheviks under different pretexts began the national massacre and interference threatening the independence of Azerbaijan.
During March and April 1918, Armenian- chauvinist committed genocide against Azerbaijani nation and over 50 thousand Azerbaijanis were executed.
By decision of Russian Soviet Leader V. Lenin who consolidated in Baku, under leadership of S. Shaumyan Baku Soviet Armenian-Bolsheviks military corps from the east, together with Armenian -chauvinist gang of Dashnak Andranik from the west attacked thousands peaceful Azerbaijani and Turkish people.
This dangerous situation has led to explicit threat of physical survival of Azerbaijani nation! On 28 May, 1918 was established Azerbaijan Democratic Republic , during its existence from the beginning the government of the republic saved its nation from destruction fighting the occupant policy of Armenians and Bolsheviks. The government of Republic founded all attributes of independent state. So, decision was made on creation military units titled “Muslim Corps”, on the other hand there was necessity to find allies and adherents to struggle against Armenian-Bolsheviks aggression
In this dangerous situation, Azerbaijani nation gets help from brother Republic of Turkey. In accordance with decision which was signed on 4, 1918 between Ottoman Empire and Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, Turkish corps under command of Nuru Pasha entered Azerbaijan and combined with local military units to fight enemies. In June- September in fierce battle first were defeated Armenian-Bolsheviks, later Central-Caspian Dictatorship and at the end Armenian-English military forces.
At the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan are demonstrated exhibits showing the heavy loss of Caucasian Islamic Army, at the same time glorious, life-saving campaign, heroically fought the strongest troops of enemies.
These exhibits provide visitors with scenes from political life as well as military actions of the reviewed period.
Over 100 objects, 20 information panels, relevant photos, mannequins, paintings, mockups provide visitors of exhibition with visual imagination of the events of the reviewed period.
In exhibition preparation is expected assistance of Embassy of Turkey in Azerbaijan Republic and Turkish Culture Centre named after Yunus Emre as well as assistance of Professor Mehmet Rikhtim from “Caucasus” University. Exhibition will last for a month and admission is free.
