In the acknowledgment of his contribution to the defence of the Caucasus and debellation of Germans, A. Aliyev received a medal “For the Defence of the Caucasus”, granted to him in 1944 by the decision of Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of USSR. It is interesting to mention that, although the medal had been given to the region’s 870 thousand defenders, A. Aliyev had the honour to receive the medal N000001.
