Sport was also an integral part of Shusha’s cultural life. The zorxana founded by Ibrahimkhalil Khan was further developed by Jafarqulu Khan, and it produced renowned wrestlers such as Nabat and Seyid Hasan, who achieved fame throughout the Near East and the Caucasus. Jafarqulu Khan Javanshir himself loved sport, particu larly hunting, and went bird hunting with a specially trained falcon. His inte rest in falconry is confi rmed by a Euro pean-made hunting glove preserved in the National Museum of the History of Azerbaijan, which was donated by the famed Mehmandarov family of Shusha but is recorded in the inventory as used by Jafarqulu Khan
