Director and Staff of the Wende Museum Visit the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan

Justinian Jampol, Founder and Executive Director of the Wende Museum in Culver City, California, USA, Cara Megan Lewis, Deputy Director, members of the Board of Directors, and other representatives of the museum visited the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. The Wende Museum brings together a collection, archive, and cultural center dedicated to the history and cultural heritage of the Cold War era.

The visit included a guided tour of the museum’s historical exhibition. Ayxanim Khalilova, a guide with the Department of Promoting the History of Azerbaijan and Organizing Guided Tours, introduced the delegation to the exhibition, highlighting key periods in Azerbaijan’s history and objects from the museum’s collections.

The delegation then visited the Memorial Museum of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev. There, the guests viewed the recreated interiors of Taghiyev’s living quarters, which provide an insight into the domestic life and material culture of his time. The tour also covered his life and multifaceted activities, including his contributions as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and prominent figure in public and educational life in Azerbaijan in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

As part of the visit, Justin Jampol and members of the Wende Museum staff met with Academician Naila Velikhanli, Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on museum practice and prospects for international cultural cooperation.

To mark the occasion, Academician Naila Velikhanli presented the guests with publications of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. At the conclusion of the visit, Justin Jampol made a commemorative entry in the Museum’s Book of Honorary Guests.
