An employee of the museum participates in the international project "Great Caucasus Wall"

The National Museum of History of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh (UK) and Tbilisi State University (Georgia), has launched an international project titled "Great Caucasus Wall." The project focuses on the localization and investigation of ancient defensive structures and the study of existing fortification remnants.

The project’s implementer from Azerbaijan, Aslan Qasimov, a scientific researcher at the Archaeology Scientific Fund Department of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, has been sent to Georgia for archaeological reconnaissance as part of the initiative. The research involves collecting samples of charcoal and plaster for analysis, which will provide initial data on the chronology and construction technologies of these defensive structures.

It is worth noting that the project won a grant competition organized by the British Academy. Professor Eberhard Sauer from the University of Edinburgh and Dr. Davit Naskidashvili from Georgia are the primary partners of the project.
