Presenting Philatelic Materials Dedicated to Alisher Navoi

The Auxiliary Historical Discipline Materials Fund of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan holds 2 postage stamps dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the eminent thinker.

Printed in 1941, each of these stamps (35 mm in length, 25 mm in width) depicts at its center a bust of Alisher Navoi holding a book, with the Russian-language inscription "Алишер Навои" ("Alisher Navoi"), and "1441–1941" on the left side. Each stamp also bears its face value and the words "почта СССР" ("Post of the USSR"). The stamp with a face value of 30 kopecks is brown and beige (Figure 1), while the stamp with a face value of 1 ruble (Figure 2) is in light and dark lilac tones.

Commemorative stamps are materials that preserve historical memory, cultural values, and the social environment of their time. The collection and study of such materials is of interest to museologists, art historians, and source scholars.
