An article by Fatma Ganiyeva, PhD in History and a staff member of the Ethnographic Scientific Collections Department of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, entitled “Tea Ceremonies in Azerbaijan’s Hospitality” has been published in the international scientific journal “İrs” (“Heritage”).

The article examines traditions of hospitality as an important component of the national and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people, as well as the social and cultural dimensions of tea ceremonies that have developed within these traditions. The author considers hospitality in Azerbaijani society as an expression of mutual respect, social interaction and solidarity, while highlighting the significant role of tea ceremonies as one of the practical manifestations of this tradition.

Particular attention is given to material cultural objects associated with tea ceremonies and preserved in the collections of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. These objects, housed in the Museum’s Ethnographic Collection, are presented as important sources for the study of everyday culture, tea-drinking traditions and the cultural understanding of hospitality in Azerbaijan. The article analyses the historical and ethnographic characteristics of these museum objects and highlights their place and significance within Azerbaijani traditions of hospitality.

The article is of scholarly significance for the study of ethnographic materials preserved at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan and contributes to their introduction into international academic discourse in the context of research on the material and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people.
