The second issue of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan’s popular science journal Science and Life for 2026 (No. 492) has been published. The new issue features articles by staff members of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.
An article entitled “Historical and Architectural Monument of Baku” by Aynur Babayeva, Chief Specialist at the Museum’s Department of Innovation and Educational Programs, is published on pages 19–21. Dedicated to the designation of 2026 as the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” in Azerbaijan, the article examines the role of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev in shaping the architectural character of Baku, the historical and architectural monuments built at his initiative, as well as the Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev Palace, which currently houses the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.
An article entitled “The Scent of Baku” by Nigar Ahmadli, Chief Specialist at the same department, is published on pages 69–71. Dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Maral Rahmanzade, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan and recipient of the State Prize, the article provides information about works by the artist preserved at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.
An article entitled “A Life Devoted to Museum Work” by Zulfiyya Jalilova, Junior Researcher at the Department of Research and Presentation of the History of Azerbaijan, is published on pages 62–65. Dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the birth of scholar and museologist Narmin Tahirzade, the article focuses on her scholarly and museum activities, as well as her contribution to the development of historical studies and museology.
An article entitled “The Path of Martyr Said Jafarov to Eternity” by Gulnar Farhadova, Specialist at the Museum’s Patriotic War Fund, is published on pages 93–95. The article provides information about the life and military service of Said Jafarov, who was killed during the 2020 Patriotic War.

An article by Sevinj Akif gizi Nasirova, Academic Secretary of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philosophy in History and Associate Professor, has been published in the scholarly volume Türkiye – Azerbaycan Ortak El Sanatları / Turkey – Azerbaijan: Shared Traditional Crafts, dedicated to the study of the shared tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Turkey and Azerbaijan.
On January 1, 2027, Azerbaijan will mark the 130th anniversary of the birth of Aziz Mammadkarim oghlu Aliyev (1897–1962), an outstanding statesman who made a significant contribution to the development of healthcare and science in Azerbaijan.
