Museum Researcher Presented Paper at International Scientific Conference in Uzbekistan

Ali Farhadov, PhD in History and Associate Professor, Principal Researcher at the Department of Scientific Research and Presentation of Azerbaijani History at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, participated in an international scientific and practical conference organized by the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan.

The conference, entitled “Museology in the 21st Century: Research, Traditions and Innovations,” was held in Tashkent. As part of the programme, Ali Farhadov presented a paper entitled “Medieval Turkic-Islamic Culture in the Journal Varlıq: The Example of Javad Heyat.” His presentation was accompanied by illustrative slides.

The paper examined the scholarly and intellectual legacy of Javad Heyat, a prominent 20th-century surgeon, publicist and Turkologist. It explored how the journal Varlıq, published in Tehran under his editorship, covered the philosophical, historical and literary dimensions of medieval Turkic-Islamic culture. Drawing on specific scholarly evidence, Farhadov highlighted the journal’s role in preserving national consciousness and cultural identity in Iranian Azerbaijan.

Following the presentation, conference participants and international experts raised questions on the subject. Ali Farhadov provided detailed answers concerning the journal’s contribution to regional cultural integration and the research potential of materials preserved in museum collections.

The discussion provided a valuable opportunity for the exchange of scholarly experience in museology and contributed to strengthening international academic cooperation in the study of shared Turkic-Islamic historical and cultural heritage.
