On 30 September 2026, the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan hosted the opening of the international exhibition “The Mystery of the Azure Dome”, prepared by the Hazrat Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation as part of efforts to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and to promote the shared historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples.
The project was implemented as a continuation of systematic efforts to study, preserve, and promote the heritage of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Kazakhstan and abroad, in line with the directives of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The opening ceremony began with the national anthems of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event featured speeches by Academician Naila Velikhanli, Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan; Sabina Hajiyeva, Head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Yerlan Yergaziyevich Dakenov, Director of the Hazrat Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and representatives of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Leyla Hasanli and Maksat Argynbekov. The event was moderated by Turan Gasimova, a staff member of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.
The speakers highlighted the significance of the historical and friendly ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, the development of cultural and humanitarian relations, and cooperation between museums. Particular emphasis was placed on the preservation, study, and international promotion of the shared historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Yerlan Yergaziyevich Dakenov presented gifts to Academician Naila Velikhanli, Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.
The participants were then invited to view the exhibition “The Mystery of the Azure Dome”.
The exhibition contributes to further strengthening cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, developing cooperation between museums, and promoting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples.
On 17 September 2026, the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan hosted an event dedicated to 20 September – the Day of State Sovereignty – and the third anniversary of the local anti-terror measures conducted on 19–20 September 2023.
On 2 July 2026 at 10:00, the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan will host the opening of “Baku. 1926: Language, Thought, Unity,” an exhibition dedicated to the centenary of the First Turkological Congress. The exhibition is jointly organised by the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan and the Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage.
